Accommodation Information/Details

Dormitory (sleeping 8)

Gwersyll Cwmwrdu provides basic self-catering accommodation for families and groups (please note: any group staying at the centre must have an adult in charge, i.e. over 18).  Disabled access is limited, so it is recommended that disabled persons are accompanied.  There have been disabled visitors to the centre in the past; all the bottom floors are on one level, and the bottom bunks are at a low level.  There is enough room for a wheelchair to be taken into the bathroom (which has a handrail).  Please feel free to telephone to discuss any queries with Barbara and Dorothy.

The centre features two dormitories containing bunkbeds; one dormitory sleeping 8, one sleeping 10.  Each dormitory has an en-suite shower and toilet room.  There are an extra 4 bunks in the gallery above the dining area.  As the access to this is by ladder, it is recommended for adults only.

There is a fan heater in each dormitory and a fan heater in the main room (where the gallery is located).  These do run through the coin meter.  Additional heating can be provided by the wood/coal-burning stove.  There is lighting in each dormitory, the gallery, the main room and the shower/toilet rooms, which is included as part of the booking price (does not incur a coin meter charge).

As you walk in the main door of the centre, the dormitory/bathroom areas are situated off the main room, one on the left and one on the right.  The main room is an open-plan, combined seating, dining and kitchen area.  The seating area has padded and bench

seating around a coffee table, with additional plastic chairs in the centre should you need them.  The kitchen area has a large worksurface, fridge, kettle, sink, cooker, microwave and shelving space with crockery and utensils.  As mentioned above, the electrical equipment and power points go through the coin meter.  The stove is fuelled by Calor gas, which is included in the booking price, however we do ask that if you use all the gas on your visit you ensure the canister is refilled/replaced.  Keep the receipt for the cost of the gas and you will be refunded (ask for details/details will be given when you book of where to send the receipt).  The same applies to smoke alarm batteries, if they are needed (we recommend you test these when you arrive).  There are notices in the centre concerning the above.  We would also ask that guests ensure that all soap flakes, powders and detergents are biological - this is because of the drainage system used.  The dining table (under which are stored the spare plastic chairs) seats 8 to 10 people, and is located to the right of the front door; this is for storage (guests may move the table to wherever it is convenient for them).

The centre does not provide bedding, towels or toiletries.  Guests are advised to bring their own personal first aid kit plus a torch.  Also, if you wish to use the wood/coal-burning stove, please bring fuel with you (fire regulations prevent us from storing this at the centre whilst it is unattended).  Please ensure you bring a supply of £1 coins with you for the electric coin meter should you wish to use anything electrical at the centre (including the appliances provided by the centre).
